WATCH: Baseball fan makes amazing one-handed bat catch

It’s not every day you have the chance to be a hero, so when duty calls, you better answer.

And that’s exactly what this burgundy-Harvard-sweater-wearing-beer-drinking legend did when an errant bat came flying at his wife’s head during a baseball game.

There are so many things right with this video, starting with our protagonist, Mr. Harvard. He’s got the poise you would expect from a head of state, springing into action when life threw him a curvebat.

The catch itself is incredible, but the fact that he does it with a beer in hand immortalizes him in baseball fan lore.

With my beer, man.

Mr. Harvard

The way he reacts is priceless, pure class. A quick kiss from the wife and a brief salute to the crowd.

This happened at a St. Paul Saints game, a non-MLB affiliated team that plays in the North Division of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

The St. Paul Saints have a few claims to fame besides Mr. Harvard. It was with them that Darryl Strawberry spent two months in exile following his suspension from Major League Baseball for egregious cocaine use in 1996. As the legend goes, Strawberry’s first home run with the saints was a 522′ bomb off Pat Ahearne, and shortly thereafter, Strawberry was resigned by the New York Yankees.

The Saints also hold the world record for the largest pillow fight. 6,261 people took part in the melee, which was held after the second inning on July 21, 2015 and hosted by Stephen Baldwin, Alec’s less famous and talented brother.

He is the antithesis to Bartman, baseball’s most notorious fan; famous for single-handedly costing the Chicago Cubs a World Series.

We enter uncharted waters in 2017. The country is still reeling from a divisive presidential election and we’re faced with more questions than answers. But we can all agree that Mr. Harvard epitomizes the values that we sports fans hold dear.
