The highest-grossing sports films

Sport films can go one way or the other. The serious ones seem to flop, the true stories seem to flop; and anything outside the US seems to flop.

So, step aside the likes of Brad Pitt in Moneyball and Christian Bale in The Fighter, you’ve been outshone by the Adam Sandlers of this world in terms of box office revenue.

It’s strange how genuine and poignant films can be trumped by cheap wins, which have kept Mr¬†Sandler in a job for the last thirty years. Perhaps an easy laugh at film is the model to a sporting success? Does everybody’s¬†favorite golf film, Happy Gilmore, make the top 10 for box office revenue…
