Shaq’s constant ribbing provokes threats from NBA player

Tanya Payne

We all know Shaq to be a jokester. The big guy not only pokes fun at himself, but he loves to also poke fun at other players in the league. In fact, that’s where his “Shaqtin a Fool” comes from. Shaq highlights NBA players who make very questionable plays. However, after years of ripping into JaVale McGee, he finally has had enough and let Shaq know it.

Things took a crazy turn today after Shaq went in on JaVale McGee. If you’re familiar with “Shaqtin a Fool,” then you know JaVale is a usual participant but Shaq took things to a brand new level with this ultimate Shaqtin highlight video of McGee’s less than stellar moments:

Not for nothing, but the video is pretty funny. Unfortunately JaVale didn’t think it was funny. Actually, that video may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. He took to Twitter to address Shaq and well…all hell broke loose:

Shaq calling him a bum:

The Warriors’ newest member, Kevin Durant, decided to stick up for his teammate and had a few jabs for Shaq to boot. During an interview he says:

“Shaq wants to make a joke about it. But if it was him in that position, he’d feel the same way. We wouldn’t call him a bum and all this because he’s such a great player obviously. But still, everybody can’t be Shaq.

[McGee’s] trying to make his money and enjoy the game of basketball and the perception of him now is that he’s a dumb player because he makes mistakes out there on the court.

Shaq was a sh**** free throw shooter, he missed dunks, he airballed free throws, he couldn’t shoot outside the paint. He was bigger than everyone, didn’t have no skill, bigger and stronger than everyone.

Still a great player, but you had your flaws as a player and you played on five or six teams, too. So it’s not like he’s just some perfect center. You had your flaws, too. I didn’t know cops could go on Twitter and threaten civilians like that. I’m glad JaVale challenged him.”

Shaq heard KD loud and clear but, Shaq will be Shaq:

Well that escalated quickly. On one side JaVale has a point, Shaq’s been making fun of him for years and after a while that could really hurt his wallet if people perceive him to be a horrible player. On the other side, Shaq is doing what he does. He’s always stirred the pot and people love him for it. Let’s hope they figure it out; it’s pretty safe to say if the Warriors take it all the way, Shaq won’t be invited to any celebrations.
