Mayweather-McGregor is bad for sport

Harry Kettle

Sports fans, prepare yourselves, because the media storm is coming. Floyd Mayweather versus Conor McGregor has been made official for August 26th and once you’ve waded through all of the scrutiny and speculation, what we’re left with is a fight that really won’t do sport as a whole many favours.

With the biggest name in boxing going up against the biggest name in mixed martial arts, there’s bound to be a great deal of interest. As we’ve seen over the last few days that has indeed been the case, but thankfully a lot of people are rightly questioning the logic behind the decision to authorize this bout.

So with all of that in mind, we’re fully aware that 90% of you will still go ahead and order this fight. With McGregor and Mayweather building this up to be the biggest scrap in the history of the world, it makes sense that the majority of fight fans will fork out the required funds to witness what many will consider to be a ‘classic’.

Let’s just wait and see how things turn out.
