Combining the Lions and All Blacks: The best test performers

Ed Angeli

Now that the dust has settled following an outstanding final test match between the All Blacks and the British and Irish Lions, rugby fans were treated to three epic encounters between the two sides.

In a series that had everything, the Lions are likely to come away the happier of the two sides.

With indifferent results of warm up games, including surprise losses to the likes of The Blues, many had predicted a series whitewash once again staring at the face of the Northern Hemisphere side.

However, the brilliant comeback in the second, and the thrilling final test, the Lions deservedly leave New Zealand on a par with the greatest team in the world.

For that reason, many Lions outshone their opposite numbers over the three tests:

What a series it was. Although the likes of Jamie George, Jerome Kaino, Aaron Smith and Liam Williams all made excellent contributions, the quality of their opposite numbers means they just missed out.

The speed and intensity of all three games was up there with the highest seen in recent years, and this Lions side justified their inclusion in the greatest honour to Northern Hemisphere rugby players.
