Bektiyar “fitch” Bahytov may just be the key to making Gambit a top tier squad. Last month, Gambit Gambit took a chance on Kazakh talent Abay “HObbitt” Khasenov along with Ukranian Daniil “Zeus” Teslenko – effectively making Gambit a Kazakh dominated squad.
The only non-Kazakh players that remain in the squad are lurker Mihail “Dosia” Stolyarov and IGL Zeus. The three core members – Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev, Rustem “mou” Tlepov, and Dosia – are all together in their intent to maintain their Major Legends spot from ESL Cologne 2016.
Since the days of 1.6 – Dosia has been known to be the biggest “baiter” in every team he has been apart of. He was heavily hyped when he was instated into the early iterations of Virtus.Pro and Astana Dragons – the Russian had the aim and clutching ability to back it up.
“Dosia lurked hard in 1.6, and even in CS:GO.
“He’s the type to wait until everyone is fully distracted, then pop up and stab them in the back when they least expect it. Kind of like a Happy, but Dosia had the aim to back it up.”
Duncan “Thooorin” Shields
Dosia has been lacking in the frag department lately and, at 28 years of age, many suspect that Dosia will soon be rehearsing his retirement speech – and rightfully so. Dosia’s stats have been gradually declining since his transfer from Gambit to HellRaisers. His lurking style – coupled with Vincent “Happy” Schopenhaur’s shortcomings – is just not as effective as it was in the early days.
Fitch is a fellow Kazakh and the polar opposite of Dosia. As a trade fragger, his confidence in seeking frags is what made him one of the most feared players on Tengri. Sharing the spotlight with HObbitt, fitch performed admirably as Tengri went on to their best LAN performance and placing to date – 3rd place at the Adrenaline CS:GO LAN Finals.
fitch provides the much needed firepower to back AdreN’s one man army and replace mou’s inconsistencies. And, with his addition, HObbitt can have a comfortable spot in his preferred lurking role. So far, HObbitt has had problems adjusting to his new position in Gambit, and with fitch there, HObbitt can fulfil the expectations given to him. It also lays some slack off on IGL Zeus, who can play his Na`Vi oriented play-style: slow, steady, and unpredictable.
With the ELEAGUE Major 2017 coming up in a few months, Dosia won’t be leaving anytime soon. Soon-after the major, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Kazakh trio vouch for his removal in favour of fitch. Replacing Dosia instead of Zeus is ideal, as Zeus represents more sentimental value to the Gambit squad for their future.
