WATCH: College football star KOs woman with sucker punch

A disturbing video was recently released to the public that showed current Oklahoma sophomore running back Joe Mixon channeling his in Kimbo Slice and knocking out a defenseless young woman with a single punch to her face.

The incident occurred back in 2014 and Mixon was suspended for his entire freshman season at the school. However, he did not lose any years of eligibility and has been scoring touchdowns for Oklahoma for the past two seasons.

His devastating one-punch knockout resulted in the woman sustaining four broken bones in her face.

Apparently the confrontation was a result of Mixon referring to one of the young woman’s friends with a homosexual slur. The woman obviously was not happy about it and got in the running back’s face after he finished demeaning her friend. She then gave Mixon a harmless push and a little love tap on the side of his head to which the running back determined the best reaction in this certain situation would be to introduce her face to his fist.

Yes, Oklahoma did do the right thing and suspend Mixon. But was one season really enough?

Does he really deserve to continue his dream of playing football at a high level when he failed to follow one of the basic rules of human decency? You do not hit a woman, it is pretty cut and dry.

There is no, “well she started it.” No, the man in this instance has to have the mental strength to remove himself from the situation without causing physical harm to any female who may have been the instigator.

But now that the video is out in the open, what will come of Mixon’s aspirations to to play in the NFL? It seems pretty easy to assume that his chances have definitely taken a shot.

Former NFL running back Ray Rice has never been able to find a way back onto a team since the infamous video of him punching his then fiancé was released back in 2014. Will the video of Mixon doing something similar prevent him from getting selected in an upcoming NFL Draft?

Well if that does end up happening, maybe then the young running back will realize what is truly acceptable in society. There are no amount of touchdowns that can erase the image that many NFL executives will have now in their heads when they see Mixon’s name come up in a scouting report.
