Shocking Hamilton-Rosberg Crash Exposes Big Problems Within Mercedes

Mercedes would like to forget all about the Spanish Grand Prix. They’d have it stricken from the record if they could.

The iconic racing brand suffered one of its greatest embarrassments ever as its two star drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, crashed into each other on the very first lap.

The friends-turned-rivals were chasing a record-tying 11th straight win for Mercedes when everything came went to hell just moments after the start of the race.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff had this to say on the incident:

Just kidding. Here’s what he actually had to say:

“A VERY UNFORTUNATE RACING INCIDENT TRIGGERED BY VARIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES, AND VERY DIFFICULT TO JUDGE.”

“THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE IN THE TEAM WITH RACING EXPERIENCE – AND AN OPINION.”

“THE OPINION DIFFERED BETWEEN ALL OF US. WHAT I TAKE HOME IS THAT IT WAS AN INCIDENT THAT CULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED FROM BOTH SIDES. IT’S SO DIFFICULT TO ATTRIBUTE PERCENTAGES OF BLAME.”

Toto Wolff, Mercedes team boss

What he meant was:

“WE CAN’T BELIEVE THESE IDIOTS CRASHED INTO EACH OTHER…EACH OTHER!”

“WE’RE GOING TO PRETEND IT DIDN’T HAPPEN BECAUSE IT’S EQUAL PARTS EGREGIOUS AND EMBARRASSING.”

While Wolff was unwilling to point the finger at either driver, the court of public opinion has decried Rosberg as chief culprit and villain here.

What do you think?

Who’s to blame in the Hamilton-Rosberg crash?
