Sebastian Vettel is yet to reach the top step of the podium in 2016 after managing 2nd place in China, Canada and Azerbaijan. He wasn’t the favourite going into the Hungarian Grand Prix last year, so can Ferrari cause another upset?

Ferrari go into the race weekend in Budapest with a more aggressive tyre strategy than Mercedes or Red Bull in that they take an extra set of the supersofts with them. Hopefully this wont prove to be the strategic error that seems to follow Ferrari around race weekend after race weekend.

The gearbox issue was there again for Sebastian Vettel at Silverstone, but the lack of overall downforce would have alarmed the German even more. Whilst Vettel and Raikkonen remain two of the most proven and celebrated Formula One drivers, the car is yet again underwhelming.

Ferrari’s boss Maurizio Arrivabene has highlighted that his team cannot “fail again” in Hungary. He said,

“After Hungary we cannot fool around any more. After that [race], we will understand what chances there are and where we are — and I believe that we cannot fail.

Earlier in the season we had some problems related to certain components of the power unit, and these were sorted to the point that today our strong point is the engine. Now we need to work on reliability and other areas such as the aerodynamics.

[The British GP] has highlighted the problems that are not only related to this track. They had already emerged in Barcelona and in Baku, but here were more visible. We have to work fast, but there are clear gaps.”

The twitchy SF16-H isn’t giving Raikkonen or Vettel any confidence in the corners though and I think it’s looking like Red Bull will jump to 2nd in the constructors over this race weekend.
