Grosjean Believes Singapore Updates will Eventually stop the Haas Points Drought

It was another race weekend in which the Haas team came within touching distance of points but just missed out. It’s a situation the team would have taken before their debut in Melbourne, but the early success that the American outfit and Grosjean enjoyed early on has made the rest of their season seem disappointing.

The team hold the lion share of 11th and 12th place finishes. This is a record that shows a team that’s more than competent in leading the midfield but also generated a sense of opportunities missed. The Singapore Grand Prix wasn’t a smooth weekend for the team in any case. Gutierrez finish 11th and picked up further criticism from the Mercedes team for his blue flag mischief and Grosjean had so many issues it wasn’t even worth starting the race.

The French driver has carried the team in terms of points on the board and half-believes that the front-wing upgrade he wasn’t able to optimize in Singapore will be handy at Sepang and beyond in the team’s tireless pursuit of points. Grosjean said,

“We are still missing some channel to check everything in terms of aero data but I tried the new front wing versus the old, we kept the old one as a known quantity, but the new one didn’t feel too bad.

It is weird, we changed the rear wing, we changed the drums, the floor after the crash and the behaviour is the same. A bit dodgy.”

Grosjean has finished 11th at the Malaysian Grand Prix in the previous two seasons. Haas must be sick of finishing in this position so the French driver will be hoping to pull a bit more out of his helmet and claim some points. He last scored in Austria and the team will want to take momentum into 2017. The 2016 season started with a startling bang and another few finishes in the points will prevent their season from fizzling out completely.
