McLaren might be doing more than just adding some new colours to their MCL32. Eric Boullier talks about the reshuffle.

On the 24th February, the first car in the post Ron Dennis era will be unveiled, potentially in the iconic CanAm colours and the original colours of the McLaren team. But what else is coming? Well with a reshuffle within the team, Eric Boullier thinks things will be exciting both for the team, and for the fans!

“Across the businesses, in fact, we’re triggering other changes – and we’ve got some exciting changes planned for our new car, the MCL32, but we want those to be kept secret until we show it to the world on February 24.”

The reshuffle that has taken place has been prompted by team manager Dave Redding leaving the team for a role at Williams, but the change had been in discussion for a while so it isn’t something that will instantly destabilise the squad. Chief mechanic Paul James has now taken over Reddings role.

“As McLaren’s chief mechanic, Paul is the best in Formula 1 – and that’s not merely my opinion, but that of many of my peers at McLaren who’ve had the opportunity to work up and down the pitlane in many other teams, as I have of course.”

“And I see no reason why Taffy – as he’s fondly called by everyone inside the team, Welshman that he is – won’t perform brilliantly in his new role.”

One of McLaren drivers is on a silly amount of money… Here are the 2017 grids salaries:

2017 is set to be one of the most crucial years in recent memory for the Woking based team. With no wins since 2012 and the team stating that 4th place in the constructors standing this year would be a ‘disappointment’, a lot is expected from them. As I have stated before, a 3rd place finish is what they need to be targeting. Let’s hope these exciting changes bring them this result.
