In pictures: Iconic British racers enjoying the sesh

British racing reached its golden age between the fifties and seventies. Throughout this period, the racing world was treated to some classic scenes of British revelry following multiple successes.

This list includes some titans of British racing:

  • Sir Stirling Craufurd Moss
  • John Michael Hawthorn
  • Peter Collins
  • Sir John Young Stewart
  • Norman Graham Hill
  • James Simon Wallis Hunt
  • Barry Sheene

Gone are the days of enjoying a win in the way motorsport was intended. It’s no surprise that a lot of these racers had the urge to celebrate after walking away from what was nothing short of a death machine.

So who was the ultimate sesh pilot during the 50s, 60s and 70s? Hollywood would tell you that it must be Hunt, however, on closer inspection the race is much closer. A noble podium would include Hawthorn, Hunt and Sheene.
