Valentino Rossi: Eight Riders up for the Title Fight

Movistar Yamaha Rider and Living Legend Valentino Rossi thinks the fight for the title is going to be a bloody one – with eight riders aiming to vie for the win.

MotoGP currently has something that most other Motorsports should be incredibly envious of: a star-studded lineup where a large number of riders could come out on top at the close of the upcoming season. Unlike its four-wheeled premier class counterpart Formula One, where the competition for the title is boiled down to just the top three duking it out (with Mercedes and Hamilton likely coming out on top – again), the premier motorcycle racing sport has a gripping eight riders that could be up for the podium – or at least Rossi thinks so.

Speaking at the pre-Qatar Grand Prix press conference, Valentino shared his thoughts regarding the upcoming season:

“As always, the level is very high, and this year more – so you can have seven, eight riders that try to win races and try to fight for the championship, this is great.
We have to try to stay in that group, coming from a quite difficult winter season; I was never very strong [and] we struggled a bit to find the right feeling.

For me all the riders in this table plus Dovizioso can win in normal conditions but everything is open for everybody if you have mixed, or wet.

Also Pedrosa because in the pre-season he was in a great shape so all these and Pedrosa and Dovizioso, minimum.” – Valentino Rossi

The heated line-up may prove to be brutal challenge for the riders, but is sure to be a boon to the global Motorsport. MotoGP has long had pre-season lineups that translated well into the season proper, offering a competitive and engaging viewership experience that other sports would be wise to key into.
