The Los Angeles Rams recently announced the hiring of the franchise’s 13th head coach since the AFL and NFL merged into one league back in 1970. 30-year-old Sean McVay is the lucky guy that will try and lead the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2004.

At his current age, McVay is the youngest ever to be hired as the head coach of an NFL team since the merger. To put it into perspective, the last time the franchise was playing in a postseason game, McVay was just finishing up high school.

Here are 10 current NFL players older than McVay:

Fast forward 12 years later and the former offensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins is now the guy in charge for the Rams.

Los Angeles does not seem to be concerned about their new coach’s age and are banking on it being something that could help make the team successful.

“The youth and age help him relate to young guys. It’s a young man’s business.”

Les Snead, Rams general manager commenting on the age of his team’s new head coach.

Now not only will McVay be the youngest person on his coaching staff, but there will surely be a handful of players on his roster that can say they were allowed to legally drink at a bar before him.
