Situated in the Entabeni Safari Conservancy in the exotic Waterberg region of Limpopo province lies the Legend Golf & Safari Resort, one of, if not the most extreme golf destination in the world. The resort is only a two and a half hour drive or 35 minutes flight from Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Legend Golf & Safari Resort is famous for its unusual golf course, which boasts a 19th hole that players can only access via helicopter. Yes, a helicopter. Appropriately titled “Extreme 19th,” it’s the longest par-3 in the world.

Its tee, set on the Hangklip Mountain, is about 400m above the green and is accessible only by helicopter. Golfers play to the Africa-shaped green hundreds of meters below. Needless to say, the views are spectacular and the hole is perfect for those who want to get some practice in high-altitude golfing.

The 19th is an addition to the 18 hole Signature Golf Course designed by professional golfers, including Pádraig Harrington, Trevor Immelman, Sergio García, Bernard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Justin Rose, Vijay Singh, K. J. Choi and Retief Goosen.

A winner of numerous and prestigious tourism and property awards, the Legend Golf & Safari Resort is much more than 18 holes of golf. Hundreds of species of animals, plants, birds, reptiles and amphibians are just a game drive away at the 22,000 hectare (1 hectare = 10,000 square meters) safari conservancy. The resort has world-class facilities, including a wellness centre and a sports centre. Legend Golf & Safari Resort is also known for its excellent cuisine – and eating under the stars on the African plains is a once in a lifetime experience.
