Unreal: Missouri Golf Course Destroyed by Massive Sinkholes

ADDITION Golf Course Sinkholes

There’s a new design feature on the Top of the Rock Golf Course, which hosts the Champions Tour’s Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf in Branson, MO: four massive sinkholes.

The story was first reported by the Springfield News-Leader. The largest was 60 feet by 80 feet wide, and 35 feet deep (and still growing).

Sinkhole-Update

The biggest sinkhole started near the practice range last Friday at about 6:30 a.m., reported NBC affiliate KYTV. No injuries were reported. Inspectors were on the scene, trying to figure out the best way to fill the holes.

Sinkholes are not particularly uncommon in the Ozarks, where Top of the Rock is located, according to the Springfield News-Leader. The Big Cedar Lodge, which owns the course, is working with engineers to figure out how, if at all, they’ll fill the hole. It could take up to two weeks to replace the sunk-in earth. The good news for the facility is that the sinkhole won’t impact tee times, but it does create a new hazard, or the world’s easiest hole-in-ones.
