Perhaps better known for their newly qualified European League of Legends roster, eSports organization Misfits has just announced their expansion into the chaotic CS:GO scene. The timing has proved to be all too perfect for the Misfits opportunists who, in the aftermath of the PEA exclusivity war between the Team SoloMid brand and their Counter-Strike roster, have provided refuge to the players forced out by their former team owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh.

Misfits have seized their chance to enter the competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene, taking full advantage of the Team SoloMid dispute. Within hours of Team SoloMid announcing the departure of their Counter-Strike players, Sean “seang@res” Gares, dubbed as the catalyst behind the anti PEA movement announced his excitement of joining his new organization.

The Misfits roster will re-unite the temporarily fractured group, which boasts a balance of veterans and emerging young guns of the CS:GO scene:

The split between TSM and their players certainly wasn’t a pretty affair. Seang@res was removed from the roster due to issues regarding player rights and PEA (Professional eSports Association) league exclusivity. The remaining players subsequently decided to not play without their team captain and reluctantly TSM had to let go of their CS:GO roster and relinquish their spot in ESL Pro League for the upcoming season. ESL have since confirmed that the roster’s slot will be transferred to Misfits.

Team SoloMid have failed in their venture to expand into CS:GO – the organization has now parted with two promising rosters in quick succession, losing their players to first Astralis, and now Misfits. Misfits, buoyed by their recently announced partnership with the Miami Heat basketball organization, the addition of a CS:GO roster to the brand is yet another victory for the eSports brand.

The newly acquired team played their first match with the Misfits brand vs Ajax eSports for the DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017 NA qualifier, demolishing the competition by dropping just two maps.

The roster appear to be revitalized after being stuck within the confines of Team SoloMid and are happy are seemingly happy in their new environment. Misfits are yet to be properly tested on stage, but the qualifier was certainly a good start. The roster has the talent to become a dominant NA CS:GO squad and will face their first significant test at DreamHack later this year.
