What a wild week! All the news has surprisingly been coming from off the course. From Rory McIlroy’s ankle injury, to fallout from Donald Trump’s illegal immigrant comments, it’s been a weird few days in this usually mild sport we love.

So let’s focus on something that’s actually happening on the course.

Have you heard of GolfMatch App yet? It’s free on the app store and founded with the aim of growing participation in golf, and uniting the golf community as a whole. If you like a bit of mystery and excitement the best part of the app is that you never know who you’ll get paired up with!

Enter Padraig Harrington. The three-time major winner uses GolfMatch and recently got paired with a group of golfers for a round at New Haven Country Club. From what we can see it looks like the foursome had an awesome time hitting Happy Gilmore shots and cruising around the course on GolfBoards. Can I play next time? Thanks.

Paddy’s enthusiasm for this new technology, app and boards included, either means he wants to feel like a kid again or to see the game progress into a new era. Either way, It looks like he is having a good time and isn’t that what it’s all about?

What do you think?

Have you ever used GolfMatch App, or something like it? Are you open to the idea of playing a round of golf with strangers? Let us know what you think, and if this is a good thing for the game.
