Will he, or won’t he? The question of whether or not Rory McIlroy will play at next week’s PGA Championship is all the rage these days.

Adding fuel to the fire, McIlroy posted a video to his Instagram account Wednesday morning of himself working out. Whether he defends his title at Whistling Straits remains to be seen, but seeing the world No. 1 back in the gym is definitively a positive sign nonetheless.

The 26-year-old McIlroy injured his left ankle while playing soccer in early July, and hasn’t been seen on tour since his T9 at the U.S. Open. Earlier this week, Reuters published a report that McIlroy was planning to play a practice round at Whistling Straits this Saturday. However late last night, a spokesman for McIlroy quickly shot down those rumors.

Terry Prone, founder of The Communications Clinic—the company handling McIlroy’s media affairs—told IrishGolfDesk.com that McIlroy was, “not booked for such a round. Still going through the ankle rehab process.”

The bottom line is no one knows when Rory will make his comeback, but seeing this video (below) gives us hope it’s sooner rather than later.
