Tiger Vows Never To Give Us; Extends 2015 Season This Week

Who would’ve ever thought we’d read this headline?

“TIGER WOODS TO PLAY IN WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP!”

Tiger Woods is desperate. Desperate for a good finish. Desperate to compete with the big boys club (for which he no longer belongs). Desperate for the love and affection he once had from the American media. By all accounts, Tiger Woods is straining pretty hard.

This week, Tiger Woods will play in the Wyndham Championship for the first time in his illustrious career.

After a third straight missed cut at the PGA Championship, Woods decided he was going to give his 2015 season one last shot by playing in the final regular-season event before the FedEx Cup playoffs. With the top 125 in the standings qualifying, Woods likely needs to win the event in order to make it to The Barclays.

“We discussed it in detail over the weekend,” Steinberg explained to ESPN. “It was not appropriate to confirm during the PGA Championship. “Tiger has heard great things about the event and is looking forward to the week.”

It has left tournament officials scurrying to accommodate the increase in spectators who will turn up to catch a glimpse of Woods. While some have been critical of Woods for playing in such a low-key event, his appearance this week demonstrates the thirst of the former world number one. Woods – unlike almost everyone else on this planet – believes he can make the FedEx Cup and win it. This is what makes the philandering, aloof and arrogant champion such a compelling case to follow. Yes he does nothing to make us like him, yet the more he distance himself from the public, the more we crave him.

Tiger Woods is grinding, and we should celebrate it. Others would hang up the shoes and call it a year. For Woods, nothing has changed. He is still chasing wins.
