The Tiger Woods You Know And Love Is Back

  • As Tiger Woods approaches his 40th birthday he wrote a letter to his fans.
  • He will try and compete in next year’s Ryder Cup and hopes to be still winning majors in 5-10 years time.

It all happened at Tiger’s own tournament in the Bahamas two weeks ago. The golf world was stunned to discover Santa was no longer real! I am of course referring to that brutally depressing interview Tiger gave where he seemed to have given up on the prospect of returning to professional golf.

It was a dagger to the heart for Tiger fans, so accustomed to his never-say-die attitude that it seemed as much a part of golf as bunkers, flag sticks and the occasional douchebag. So when he released a letter yesterday the golf world paused for a split second and then flocked on mass to see if the player’s psyche was back to normal.

I am happy to report that he’s back baby!! Tis the season of second comings (behave), and the prodigal son returns with the type of competitive venom that makes your – not mine sadly – hair stand on end. The thing I’m looking forward to the most about 2016 is getting back out there again,” he asserted.
“Where do I see myself in the next five to 10 years? I am still playing golf at the highest level and winning tournaments and major championships,” he added in a manner that made the Bahamas interview look like an admission he was forced to make at gunpoint.
“Hopefully, I’ll be able to play my way onto the Ryder Cup Team,” he said with the sort of conviction that reminds you why he’s a champion. You can disagree with the prospect of this becoming a reality but you can’t argue with the impassioned rhetoric that’s been his hallmark for the last 20 years.

The 14-time major winner revealed he was a bit of a nerd back in the day; “I want to go see the new ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens.’ I was a total geek growing up and had ‘Star Wars’ wallpaper in my room.”
Tiger also expressed his gratitude “to the best fans in the world,” and thanked sponsors, family and friends. The player showed his passionate support for Stanford as they play Iowa in the Rose Bowl and went on to offer some behavioural analysis of his psychological battle with golf.

“What I love and appreciate the most about playing golf is the internal struggle. The fact that the ball is not moving; it’s just looking at you and laughing at you. You have to make it move 400 yards in let’s say four shots, and that to me is without a doubt one of the toughest mental struggles there is in sports. There are more physically demanding sports, obviously, but the mental task of golf is so hard. It is basically a physical chess match.”
I don’t care if he can’t win next year, because Santa IS real and he’s bearing gifts. It doesn’t matter if they’re not quite perfect, it’s the thought that counts! Show me a person who doesn’t cherish the thought of a Tiger return and i’ll show you a liar.
See you in 2016 Mr. Woods!
