For The First Time In 13 Years, Tiger Is No Longer The #1 Money Maker In Golf

Tiger Woods, for the first time in 13 years, is not making the most money in golf. Which makes sense considering he’s not playing at the moment, due to his back injury. We shouldn’t feel bad for Woods though, because his legacy has brought an amazing impact on the game of golf, by making it cool and appealing to younger audiences.

August will be the 20th anniversary of Woods’ pro debut, and in those two decades talented and amazingly athletic young people have chosen golf over other sports. The results of Tiger’s impact can be seen on leader boards every week.

Half of the top ten pro golfers right now are under the age of 30. Jordan Spieth being number 1 and the youngest out of all of them, at the age of 22. After winning last week, Spieth has made $53 million dollars on and off the golf course, this past year alone. Woods’ made $48 million off the course this year and over the course of his career has made more than $1.4 BILLION dollars. Spieth isn’t quite there yet, but he is well on his way.

Although there will never be another Tiger Woods, there will be many that get to revel in his wake and keep molding the game as he did.
