- Arjen Robben has revealed he won’t be joining Manchester City
- The Dutchman also said he doesn’t think Pep will bring any Bayern players with him
- Former Chelsea winger believes everyone is focused despite knowing Guardiola is off
Arjen Robben won’t be one the many summer arrivals expected at the Etihad Stadium this summer, as Pep Guardiola looks to begin his Manchester City overhaul by building a squad of ‘Galacticos’.
Robben, who spent three years diving at Chelsea, told Metro: “No, he didn’t ask me to join him on his way to Manchester City…I don’t think he would do that – not with me and not with other players either.”
If Pep were to ask the former Premier League winner nicely, would Robben a) come and b) fit in at the Citizens?
Robben has said previously that he was relieved to leave Chelsea, something we can all understand, and that he felt a lack of support from then-Blues gaffer, Jose Mourinho.
A final big move may well appeal to the former Real Madrid speedster, especially if it means remaining with Guardiola, the coach who he once said this about: “…you can discuss anything with him. If it’s 3am Pep would be happy to talk to you about football.”
Ever since City became this European powerhouse in the world of football, they’ve always lacked pace and goals in the wide areas – who would’ve thought Scott Sinclair wouldn’t have cured those issues.
Raheem Sterling and Jesus Navas are the closest Manuel Pellegrini’s side gets to what they want, but Navas seems to have a fear of the goal, whilst Sterling’s form has seen him unable to lockdown a permanent spot in the starting XI.
Robben doesn’t appear to be slowing despite being 32, and he has certainly never had a problem with finding the back of the net.
Ha! Like that matters to City.
Would He Be Welcome?
And this was last night…
