Mario Balotelli and controversy are rarely too far away from one another, with the Liverpool striker now synonymous with fireworks, parking tickets and bibs.

The Italian international is currently on loan at AC Milan after then-Reds gaffer Brendan Rodgers reached the end of his tether with the controversial character. However, it could all be coming to a bitter end during Balo’s second spell with Milan following coach Sinisa Mihajlovic’s latest comments:

“It is also my fault, as those who don’t sacrifice themselves for the team to the 94th minute will no longer set foot on the field.

“It wasn’t just Balotelli, there were another two or three as well as him, they know who I’m talking about.”

The Lazio icon was speaking after Milan nearly blew a 2-0 lead late on against Genoa, a game in which Balotelli only made a two-minute substitute appearance.

It’s safe to say that the former Manchester City striker won’t be making a permanent move to AC, so where does he stand at Liverpool?

OPTIONS

With Christian Benteke now looking like a cruel parting gift from Brendan Rodgers and Daniel Sturridge’s inability to not walk past anything in the world without injuring himself, Jurgen Klopp is certainly short of options.

KLOPP

Not sure there will be a bigger clash of personalties and styles since Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson.

FANS

Football fans are an impossible bunch and very demanding – none more so than the Anfield faithful – but, credit where credit is due, football fans are forgiving (read: fickle) souls and would certainly give Mario another chance.

Not that he’d take it.
