Speaking to L’Equipe, the highly sought after forward revealed:

“I received an offer (in 2012) from Qatar of 10m euros a year and if I had accepted, then my family would have been set up for life,” he said.

“Instead we chose to stay at St Etienne, where I got 70,000 Euros per month, knowing that with my ability, I could earn money later.”

“The following season, St Etienne wanted to sell me to Newcastle but we opted for Dortmund, finalist in the Champions League because my father studied Jurgen Klopp’s game, even though the money was lower.”

You’d also imagine that Arsene Wenger came close to signing the Gabon international at some point, too?but what would’ve happened if the 26-year-old had rocked up at St James’ Park?

Shola Ameobi

As one of the more senior members of the squad, Ameobi would kindly ask Aubameyang if he’d like to join him and brother Sammy for some shooting practice. The former St Etienne striker would then go on to have a Newcastle record of 145 games 13 goals thanks to the guidance of the Ameobi brothers.

Or…He’d Be Sold

After a debut goal, Mike Ashley would immediately put the striker up for sale and sell him three days after buying him without then-Newcastle gaffer, Alan Pardew, even knowing.

Influx Of Gabonese Footballers

During the same period Aubameyang came close to throwing away all his hopes and aspirations by joining the Magpies, Newcastle went on a bit of a French crusade and seemed to only deal in French players . However, could Aubameyang’s arrival have sparked a Gabon phase in Geordie land?
