Cristiano Ronaldo got a lot of flak for his outspoken criticism of his teammates. But while he’s since apologised and taken back his disparaging comments, Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has now taken the opportunity to voice his displeasure. The team’s defeat at the hands of Atletico left them lagging 11 points behind their Catalan rivals and their bid for the title is all but over. However, Zidane’s reasons for being upset at the team are quite different from his star player’s.

To him, it’s not the lack of physical fitness that’s the problem. Real Madrid’s issues seem to stem from a widespread attitude problem infecting its teammates.

“We’re doing well physically. For me, the defeat in the derby is not a question of fitness,” he said, “That Atletico ran more than us is just data, for me we’re doing well physically. It’s other things.

“I don’t know if I’m convincing you… Yes, it’s an attitude problem. What we have to do is make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

We’re wondering what attitude problems he means, specifically. Are they pulling an Arsene Wenger, hoping to coast on by without putting in the necessary work? Or are they just not “horny” enough for victory? Only time will tell. Whatever the issues are, Ronaldo must be feeling pretty validated right now.
