“You’re nicking a living” is often an accusation levelled at Premier League footballers and, for the most part, it’s pretty harsh and uncalled for – like almost absolutely every single thing football fans say.

Over the years though, there have been plenty of examples of players who genuinely are nicking a living by turning out as professional footballers; Eric Djemba-Djemba, Igor Stepanovs, Ramon Vega, Winston Bogarde and Marco Boogers, to name just five.
