Lots of folks have been very free with their criticism of Arsene Wenger following Arsenal’s lackluster performance of late. After a humiliating defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday, the Gunners blew the gasket again after losing the second time in a row to Swansea on Wednesday. Thierry Henry was particularly vocal in claiming that fans had never been so angry before. Well, his former boss had some words for him.

“Thierry Henry has his opinions,” said Wenger, “He has not found the measurement of the fans’ angriness, of 60,000 people straightaway because he sits in the best seats of the stadium.”

Ouch, nothing like being told that you’re too out of touch with the layman to speak for him. It’s certainly true that Henry has been something of a celebrity these days. His mere presence alone is enough to reduce a strapping NFL player to tears and he is a Sky Sports Pundit with his very own executive box at the Emirates stadium.

So he does seem a little too large for life to be speaking on behalf of Arsenal’s enthusiastic fanbase. Nonetheless, he’s a powerful voice for them who certainly raised some cogent points against Arsene Wenger in his column in The Sun.

“I have never heard the Arsenal supporters as angry as they were at the Emirates on Wednesday night when their team lost at home to Swansea.

“They were less patient than I had ever known, booed one of the manager’s substitutions and groaned every time a pass went astray or a tackle was lost.

“The stick that Arsene Wenger is getting is not personal. People judge what they are seeing, although some maybe go too far in the way they express their unhappiness.”
