Stephen Curry crossed off one of his bucket list items on Tuesday by playing at Augusta National, home of the Masters.
This NBA champ had the day in the life of a pro, playing one of the most talked about courses in golf. He cashed in a promise from his coach Steven Kerr made, with teammate Andre Iguodala. Both basketball players are avid golfers and could not be happier about their day at Augusta.
“I’d never been there before, so it was a real treat,” Curry told reporters in Miami on Wednesday before the Warriors-Heat game. “I’m not going to tell you what I shot, but that was a bucket-list kind of day. I’m a golf fanatic, so to say I played at Augusta is pretty cool.”
Curry actually birdied the first hole.. which is a feat on it’s own, but I guess the round didn’t go to well after that, even without Obama egging him on the whole time.
“You birdie the first hole, it can only go downhill from there,” said Curry, who has a handicap around 1. “That’s exactly what happened.”
Now the two teammates are back on the court, getting ready for the season. The Warriors are the first NBA team to ever start a season with a 50-5 record so they’re not feeling too much pressure until the playoffs start. Which just happens to be the week after the Masters. Lucky for Curry, he can watch and know exactly where his ball went in comparison, or maybe not so lucky.. oh well.
