A hole-in-one is a beautiful thing to watch for any fan, but it reaches new levels of greatness when it pays the bills. Yes, the fact that Alex Cejka aced the 177-yard par 3 on Thursday meant that a lucky fan didn’t have to pay a year’s worth of mortgage payments. The Quicken Loans Hole-In-One Sweepstakes ensured that a fan would be walking away with a million dollars if any golfer made a hole-in-one. This year’s beneficiary was Michelle S. from Brockton, Massachusetts.

Not that this wasn’t a triumph for Cejka himself. He’d been making back-to-back bogeys and was 4 over before he made the game-changing ace that would become the Shot of the Day.

“I hit it pretty solid and it was right at the pin all the time. With the wind, you don’t know how it’s going to react, but it stayed pretty straight. It just pitched shy of the hole and disappeared. It was a crazy feeling, especially in front of the crowds here. That was very nice.”

This is already his second ace of the season, after his first in in Vegas in October. However, we think this is the one he’ll treasure for the opportunity he got to majorly impact a life.

“I’m glad I’m supporting somebody.”
