Pay what you owe or reap what you sow.

Premier League star and Ivorian international Emmanuel Eboue has been banned from all soccer related activities for a year until he pays money owed to his former agent, Sebasatien Boisseau.

Sunderland, who signed Eboue in March, are set to terminate his contract following the ruling.

Sunderland said the club knew nothing about the ongoing dispute.

“I’M MASSIVELY DISAPPOINTED LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IS…HE HAS GOT A BAN AND THE CONTRACT GETS TERMINATED ON THAT BASIS.”

This decision stems from a ruling handed down by the FIFA Players’ Status Committee in July of 2013.

Eboue has been fighting the decision tooth and nail, but appears to have no further recourse.

Eboue is best known for his time at Arsenal, where he made 132 appearances from 2005-2011.

You can’t blame him for appealing FIFA’s ruling about financial impropriety.

Eboue also made 77 appearances for Turkish giants Galatasary between 2011 and 2015.

He’s been a mainstay on the back line for the Ivory Coast since making his debut in 2004. Eboue represented the Elephants at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and has been capped over 70 times.

“Emmanuel Eboue, who has represented Cote d’Ivoire and is currently registered for the English club Sunderland, is to serve a ban on taking part in any football-related activity that will last for one year or until he pays the total outstanding amount owed to his former agent if this occurs before the one-year ban has elapsed.”

The good news for Eboue is that it looks like he can have the ban rescinded by paying his old agent what he owes.

The bad news is that he’s been put on blast to the whole world.
