With the Masters coming up, Arnold Palmer announced that he would not be hitting the ceremonial first tee shot this April. Palmer is now 86 years old and he is no longer able to hit golf balls after injuring his shoulder in 2014. He informed Billy Payne, the Augusta National chairman, of his decision on Monday.

“I spoke with Arnold yesterday and we certainly understand his decision. It makes no difference whether he hits a drive. He is a true legend in golf and will be welcomed as usual on the first tee with the other Masters honorary starters. It will be a great day.”

Arnold Palmer is one of the greats of golf and the game would definitely not be the same without him. This will be the first time since 2007 that Arnie won’t be teeing it up at the Masters.

He will still be attending the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week, as well as the Masters and the Champions Dinner. He may not be able to hit golf balls anymore but he still has the balls to show up and strut his stuff.

ARNIE PALMIES FOR EVERYONE!
