If Tottenham Hotspur do manage to finish above Leicester City, Dele Alli will quite rightly take a share of the plaudits – along with Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Harry Kane – for the England international has been, well, delightful.

Thankfully for the Lilywhites, Alli looks like he’ll be continuing his fine form right through until the end of the season, after a wonderfully taken brace last night – the volley from Eriksen’s exquisite pass arguably the pick of the bunch!

Alli’s brace last night took the former MK Dons man to 10 league goals for the season, making the Three Lions international the youngest midfielder ever to record double figures in a Premier League campaign – although, Alli knows he should’ve had a hat-trick last night?

Alli will – like teammate Harry Kane had to overcome this season – become part of the same cliched debate regarding whether he’s a one-season wonder. However, the 20-year-old seems so grounded, with this wonderful ability to laugh at himself – an attitude that will stand him in good stead for his career.

Mauricio Pochettino deserves immense credit for Alli’s rise this season, for allowing the attacking-midfielder to play with such freedom. And for making the tactical switch halfway through this season, and moving Alli from centre-midfield to the more advanced No.10 role; a role he has now cemented as his own for as long as he wants it.
