Donald Trump was in Rome, NY campaigning when the Masters came to a close. Of course, being who he is, Trump had to make a statement about Jordan Spieth’s upset.

He compared Mit Romney’s loss to Obama to Jordan’s loss of the green jacket to Danny Willett.

“That last election should have been won, except Romney choked like a dog. He choked … Let me tell you, Jordan Spieth choked a little bit. But you know what? He’s going to recover. He’s a great young guy and he’s going to recover. Romney can’t recover from a choke.”

While giving Jordan a vote of confidence at the end there, he is being insensitive to a former candidate and dogs. Not that being insensitive ever stops Donald Trump.

Honestly though, Jordan did choke at the 12th hole on Masters Sunday. You don’t chunk a second shot into the water and call it something else. He fell apart for whatever reason but (I can’t believe I’m going to say this) Donald Trump is right. He is a great young guy and he will recover from this.

Did Mitt Romney choke? That’s a entirely different conversation.
