Adidas Just Get It: Football Boots Through The Ages

All football players know how important it is selecting the right footwear; you need something to hold up on those slippery and sandy 3G pitches on Tuesday nights (that you’re told are so much better than your normal astroturf), whilst also having something that can tackle the seven different weathers that 90 minutes of football will throw at you on a Sunday morning.

Thankfully, Adidas know what they’re doing, and they’ve produced some absolute pearlers over the years – that feeling of putting on a new pair of boots for the season-opener is something that is hard to top (probably scoring a last-minute winner is the only thing to).

We’ve compiled this list of their naughtiest boots, to date, but which ones get your vote?

Hey, if it’s good enough for dead ball specialists, David Beckham, Alessandro Del Piero and Zinedine Zidane, then it’s good enough for us.

Euro 2004 was the birth of these beauties? Just looking at them you can understand why a certain Lionel Messi opted for them for several years.

Adidas Predator Absolute

You just can’t go wrong with a pair of Predators, and that is why Zidane and Beckham were still keeping it in the Predator family come the 2006 World Cup. Even Frank Lampard got in on the act, so those boots certainly guarantee you banging in some absolute beauties.

Had all the swagger and style of Cristiano Ronaldo, combined with the intellect and understanding of Lionel Messi. A revolutionary pair of football boots and favoured by the little Argentine during his Ballon d’Or-winning campaigns.

Adidas AdiPURE

Adidas went all Throwback Thursday on us with these beauties, with the AdiPURE based around the boots released for the 1978 World Cup. Slick or what?!

Michel Platini no doubt wore these in ’78, may have even been paid to wear them…

Sometimes plain and simple wins out. Just ask the man who wore them, and who these boots are named after, Franz Beckenbauer.

Adidas Copa Mundial

The pin-up boy of football boots, and have remained ever popular since their introduction to the beautiful game in 1979.
