Don’t think too many of us envisaged such a turbulent post-Sir Alex Ferguson era for Manchester United. But no doubt so many of us are thankful for it.

The FA Cup celebrations on Saturday were half-hearted, anti-climatic and somewhat uncomfortable given the confirmation that Louis van Gaal’s philosophy was getting its P45 and the Red Devils had made a deal with, well, the devil.

Jose Mourinho is coming back to the Premier League, ending a brief spell of happiness, morals and a lack of total twattery – it was fun whilst it lasted, right?!

In amongst the ‘Special One’s’ return, the 120 minutes at Wembley has played second fiddle, with pre and post-match reaction bordering on insignificant.

One of the big insignificant stories was Memphis Depay’s axing from the match-day squad, and the Netherlands international has spoken out about that decision from his now-former manager.

There’s a belief at Old Trafford that the former PSV Eindhoven attacker has lost his way but can recapture his Eredivisie form under the management of Jose Mourinho.

The jury is out on that one…
