Girls know everything and are always right – Hi, mum…yes, I know you’re reading.

What we didn’t know, though, is that when they say ‘everything’ they mean EVERYTHING! Therefore, we are currently awaiting an answer on whether Paul Pogba really is going to become the first £100million player and join Manchester United.

Oh come on, you must’ve laughed(?) But if you didn’t, well we apologise, and hope you find a sense of humour quicker than it’s taking England to stop humiliating themselves on the international football stage.

Anyway, the whole Pogba rumours do feel a lot like when David Moyes and Louis van Gaal were given the runaround by Arturo Vidal, Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Ramos, with the trio either using the Red Devils’ interest to bag themselves a bigger club or a better contract.

If Pogba were to join Manchester United, not only would it be a bit embarrassing for the red half of Manchester, having to shell out a world-record fee for a player they failed to put their faith in as a youngster, it also would confirm that transfer fees are finished.

When Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid for £85million, eclipsing the biggest fee ever paid for a player when Los Blancos bought Cristiano Ronaldo, we all started to think: “Hmm okay maybe things are getting a bit out of hand.” However, there was a part of us all that thought Bale may end up being as good as CR7, and potentially worth £5million more than the Portugal captain.

This summer, though, has all but confirmed Bale’s fee was inflated beyond his true value, and Ronaldo will forever be the ‘true’ world’s most expensive ever player, at a time when transfer fees still represented some sort of value.

Think I’m wrong?

Sadio Mane – £35million

James Tomkins – £10million

Robbie Brady – £20million

Jordon Ibe – £15million

Shall I go on?
