Football is controlled by money and the average footballer is about as loyal as Zlatan Ibrahimovic seeking out highest bidder.

With the Chinese Super League pillaging Europe of their fringe players, moneygrubbers, and the poor man’s Girouds Graziano Pellès, the footballing world is being turned upside down as titles are secondary to wages.

Riyad Mahrez is no different.

The Algerian international is set to reject a new contract offer from Leicester City, just a couple months after the end of their fairytale season.

N’Golo Kante is gone to West London, leaving a gaping hole in the Leicester midfield.

The move has forced former Leciester man Gary Lineker into tweeting his frustrations about not so cleverly using the name of Antonio Conte.

The possibility of Mahrez leaving is growing day by day and Jamie Vardy could be left to fend for himself as the newly crowned champions enter into the Champions League fray.

Although the mid table dwellers are able to spend more freely with the new TV deal, like Bournemouth putting down £15 million for Liverpool’s Jordan Ibe, players want to join the top clubs who have had sustained success and have won titles.

Mahrez will jump from a ship sinking towards 10th place and hopefully end up at Arsenal, a club that can pay him more, has history, and will eventually sell him to Barcelona where he’ll end up like Alex Song, Thomas Vermaelen, and Alexander Hleb.
