Eidur Gudjohnsen is one of those Premier League footballers, that is fondly remembered. However, as time has gone on, and the top flight has evolved dramatically in the last two decades, you realise that the Icelandic international perhaps wasn’t as good as we all made out.

Eidur is a lovable cult hero, though. And that reputation only increased this summer with his cameo appearances during Iceland’s fairy tale Euro 2016 run.

The fondness towards the Molde striker also stems from him being a rare breed of a footballer, one that actually seems like a decent chap, not the sort of egotistical prima donna that we are used to nowadays.

And one player in particular that Eidur is fond of is former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Scholes. Having previously said this:

“I’m more an admirer of Paul Scholes than I am of Ronaldo. Ronaldo is a fantastic player, but he has 10 other great players around him every week…Scholes is one of the most complete footballers I’ve ever seen. His one-touch play is phenomenal. Whenever I have played against him, I never felt I could get close to him.”

Gudjohnsen has now tweeted this:

As much as it sounds like Gudjohnsen is trying his hardest to become best mates with the cool kid in class, the Icelandic’s comments are regularly echoed by a lot of the biggest names in football, past and present.

“When we were in training, I used to do a lot of tricks which hardly any players at the club could do. Once I was showing my skills to Scholes.

“After I finished, Scholes took the ball and pointed to a tree which was about 50m from where we were standing. He said, I’m going to hit it in one shot. He kicked and hit the tree. He asked me to do the same; I kicked about 10 times, but still couldn’t hit it, with that accuracy. He smiled and left.”

Cristiano Ronaldo

“If he was playing with me, I would have scored so many more.”

So we want to know, what would you value Paul Scholes at in today’s market? Considering the fact Jordon Ibe moved for £15million, Brad Smith is moving for £6million and Robbie Brady has been valued by Hull City at £20million?!

What would Paul Scholes’ transfer market value be, today?
