Roman Torres Return To Sounders Imminent

The Seattle Sounders are on Cloud 9. Strange for a team that’s sitting in ninth place in the Western Conference, but hear me out. In the past week, the team fired parted ways with longtime coach Sigi Schmid, signed the best attacking midfielder in the league, and now center-back Roman Torres’ return to the squad is imminent after being out for nearly a year.

Torres, a big Panamanian bruiser you wouldn’t want to meet in a back alley, will give Seattle another stalwart in the back to complement Chad Marshall. Don’t come ’round those parts unless you ready to get knocked.

Torres looked like he would be a big part of the Sounders’ playoff plans last year but went down with an ACL injury just four games after being signed.

With Big Rome back in the lineup, Brad Evans (Utilitarian Of The Year) could then slide over to right back and replace Tyrone Mears, who hasn’t been nearly as good this year as he was last year.

While Torres probably won’t play in this weekend’s game against Orlando City, he’ll be back in the starting lineup shortly thereafter.

The return of Roman Torres, coupled with the arrival of Nicolas Lodeiro and the sacking of Sigi Schmid, could be just the Holy Trinity the Sounders need to make an improbable playoff push.
