Matt Besler: The All American Man of the Hour

The USMNT put in a routine performance against another subpar CONCACAF competitor in St. Vincent and the Grenadines this past Friday in World Cup Qualifying.

Honestly, if the Americans failed to win handily against the nation of just over 100,000, they shouldn’t have been allowed to return.

Thankfully, the US disposed of the small island country and continued to press on towards qualifying for the 2018 WC, where we will once again disappoint.

Sorry not sorry.

The game was highlighted by the performances of Kljestan and Pulisic who came off the bench to combine for a quality half hour.

But the man of the hour was Sporting KC center back, Matt Besler, who had two noteworthy events on the day.

Early in the morning, Besler received word that he had become a father for the first time as his wife gave birth to their daughter, Parker Rhea Besler.

In tandem with the greatest gift life has to offer, the Sporting KC player went on to score his first international goal for the USMNT.

What a fucking day.

Kicking ass for ‘Merica and becoming a father, two incredible events packed into one day.

If this weren’t the best day of his life, I would love to trade places with the man.

What else could you ask for?

Just kidding, I’ll refrain from answering that in order to preserve my relationship.

Unfortunately the tradeoff for scoring for the US was countered by missing the birth of his daughter as Besler was stuck in Caribbean while his wife, quite literally, pushed a child into the world.

Matt, you’ve got a tough road ahead of you homie.

Missing the whole labor experience is surely going to put you on diaper duty for the next three months while your wife attempts to forgive you for the inconvenient timing of the World Cup qualifiers.

No matter what you do, it’s going to be wrong and you’re going to have to accept it.

Nonetheless, hats off and congrats to Matt Besler, the man of the hour.
