On an Idaho snowboarding trip, the reigning Ryder Cup captain “committed the cardinal sin of following Dru [his son] down the hill.” The result: DL III now has a three-part collarbone.
Love broke his collarbone in three places and was flown to Birmingham, Alabama for surgery at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, Davis Love III snowboards. Apparently quite frequently.
Understated. A word that typifies Davis’ career as a golfer – now 32 years long. Not many pros can say they have won in four different decades on the PGA TOUR.
One thing that has helped Davis is his prodigious length off the tee. Not many people realise that Davis was one of the biggest hitters going, regularly smoking 320-yard drives with a persimmon driver.
He also changes his own oil.

And has posted a series of grotesque photos from past injuries/surgeries. Here’s one.

The 53-year-old now has a plate and eight screws in his shoulder. No word on whether they removed the stick from his ass. (Kidding! Just an old Davis Love posture joke)
Love was expected at next week’s Sony Open. Needless to say, he won’t be competing and will be out of action for 12 weeks. It’s the second surgery in as many years for love, who underwent a procedure to repair a torn hip labrum last summer.
