Pep Guardiola to recall Joe Hart from Torino loan

When the Pep Project came to Manchester, everyone knew major changes were to come, with players leaving and big signings to be made. However, it is possible that the actions of Pep Guardiola were too rushed and that the unlimited access to oil money clouded the former Barcelona man’s vision.

As soon as he could, Guardiola went out and found a replacement for longtime City goalkeeper and England first choice, Joe Hart. Not willing to ride the pine, Hart took his talents to Torino on loan in order to keep getting regular minutes.

On Wednesday, Manchester City visited FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the Champions League, allowing for a reunion of sorts. Pep Guardiola was reunited with his former club and teammate Luis Enrique, Claudio Bravo made his return to Barcelona, and Lionel Messi destroyed the man who helped transform FC Barcelona back into a perennial powerhouse.

But the highlight of the night was the gaffe produced by Bravo and the continuing of his shaky start to his career as the Manchester City goalkeeper. Something like this really shows how Claudio Bravo wasn’t Pep’s first choice as a replacement for Joe Hart.

What the fuck was actually going through his head?

Did he actually think Manchester City had a fighting chance with 10 men on the field?

Being on a lesser team in comparison to his former club Barcelona, his errors are under more scrutiny and are magnified. At Barcelona, MSN and a solid backline could make amends for his mistakes, but at City, John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi will be leaving him out to dry and be abused by the media.

Although he’d never admit to because he’s a proud son of a bitch, Pep Guardiola must be wondering, “Could Joe Hart have been any worse?”

Guardiola will end up selling Hart and will stick with Bravo like he stuck with Victor Valdes through some poor spells at Barcelona, but who really will have the last laugh?
