In light of this ‘potential’ fight, we thought of eight other UFC vs footballer match-ups that would go down an absolute treat.
Some of these players are past and some are present, but all would have the same money-spinning effect.
Vinnie Jones vs. Michael Bisping
Vinnie Jones is notorious (foreshadowing) for being a hard man, and Michael Bisping never backs down from a challenge.
The sheer drama that would be created between two British greats would be one hell of a sight, with Bisping doing everything he can to wind Vinnie up.

Nigel de Jong vs. Robbie Lawler
Nigel De Jong is a prick, and Robbie Lawler is an absolute bad ass.
So naturally, I want to see them knock seven shades of shit out of one another. Neither would back down and you'd have to drag them away from each other at the end of each round which, really, is the dream.

George Elokobi vs. Alistair Overeem
Two absolute mammoths of humanity colliding in what would surely go down as one of the most intimidating tag teams in the history of the world if they ever went on the same side.
Either way, this would be insane with both men having that look that says "I could easily murder you".

Duncan Ferguson vs. Donald Cerrone
You could argue that these two men may very well be mentally unstable, because I'm fairly certain they've both spent more of their lives fighting than not.
This would be a war with Cerrone going for a stylish finish meanwhile Duncan just throws the kitchen sink. Lovely.

Joey Barton vs. Chael Sonnen
Two cocky pricks who know how to talk some trash and have proved on a couple occasions that they can back it up.
The promos between these two alone would be worth the admission fee, and you just know that they'd get under each other's skin.

Hulk vs. Vitor Belfort
Hulk is quick, strong and intimidating. Vitor is quick, strong and intimidating.
These guys match up perfectly and even though Belfort's best days and behind him, it would be a no holds barred slobberknocker and the UFC could do alot worse in terms of semi-main events.
Roy Keane vs. Georges St-Pierre
Because as with everyone GSP goes up against, I want to see Roy Keane get the shit kicked out of him.
It's the classic superhero vs villain story and Keane would do his best to talk GSP down, but at the end of the day people would most definitely pay to see this fight.

Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Conor McGregor
In terms of money and star power, we've just hit the jackpot. These guys know each other quite well already having been recorded hanging out together, and you could argue they are the biggest stars of their respective sports.
Essentially, it would be massive. Simple as that.
