All is not right in Catalunya. And it could’ve got a whole lot worse if Luis Enrique had been able to bring on Marlon Santos during Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad.

So the story goes, that an injury to Gerard Pique late on in the game, forced the Barca gaffer to look to bring on Santos as his replacement – yeah, don’t worry; we’ve never heard of him either. However, we’ve already made our peace with the fact he’ll be some randomly world-class talent for Barca in the next season or two.

According to Marca, Marlon’s paperwork wasn’t completed in time for the defender to play before Christmas. However, the referee’s final whistle came before Enrique was able to make the change, meaning the awkwardness of the whole situation was saved.

Real Madrid would’ve, of course, found the cock-up hilarious. However, Los Blancos would’ve found it even more amusing given the fact they made a similar error last season, with Denis Cheryshev’s appearance against Cadiz costing them their place in the Copa Del Rey.

Given the amount of employees clubs have nowadays, such errors are extremely, well, fucking stupid. Always assumed there was a an employee for everything from ordering the tea bags to making sure players can, you know, play.

Quite baffling that Santos was even allowed to be named as a substitute, but I suppose if Neymar gets to start week in, week out for Barcelona, then anything is possible under Luis Enrique.
