The random squad of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Premier League tenure

Harry Kettle

Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Premier League are two things that never really went together all that smoothly. It was like an ill-fitting pair of new shoes; you desperately try to fit into them, but at the end of the day it’s just not the right size. With that in mind, it seems pretty likely that you’ve forgotten about these afterthoughts that appeared in the top flight for the club.

We aren’t saying that these lot weren’t solid players at one point or another, but there’s a difference between being noticed and just kind of being there. If they’d been a little bit more capable at times, perhaps we’d still be calling Wolves a Premier League club to this day. Then again, probably not.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are, historically speaking, one of the biggest teams in English football. Unfortunately things haven’t quite translated to this new era of the Premier League and given where they find themselves right now, it seems like it’ll be a long old time before they make their presence felt in the top flight once again.
