Krepo Steps Down As A Riot Shoutcaster Following Leaked Nude Photo Scandal

Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels was notably absent from the opening broadcast of the European League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split. It has now been confirmed that the popular shoutcaster will step away from the game “for the foreseeable future” after explicit private photos of the Riot Games employee were leaked online during the Mid-Season Invitational.

One of the most popular League of Legends casters in the world, Krepo announced via social media that he would be stepping down from casting the Mid-Season Invitational after the leaked photos spread across the internet. The former Evil Geniuses and Elements support player had remained silent on the matter since his initial statement on May 20th, but has now confirmed he will be stepping away from the Riot Games broadcast by mutual consent.

“As of right now I’ve decided with the support of Riot that I will be stepping down from my role as an EU LCS shoutcaster for the foreseeable future.”

Krepo’s absence went without mention from any of Riot’s EU broadcast team during the opening broadcast of the EU LCS Summer Split and, until today, Riot Games had declined to comment on the situation:

“Krepo has been an incredible addition to the EU LCS team.

“We respect his decision to step away from the spotlight and understand that it’s the best thing for him at the moment.

“We thank him for his manny contributions as a player and a caster and wish him the best in the future.”

Krepo has been a mainstay on the EU LCS broadcast desk for the last two years but has now swiftly removed any mention of Riot Games or the EU LCS from his social media accounts.

The controversy stemmed from a set of compromising photos that were leaked during the Mid-Season Invitational. The photos featured s set of nude photos that Krepo had sent to a female acquaintance, which was saved and later released online.

Krepo has received widespread support after announcing his decision to step down from the EU LCS broadcast:

As outlined in his official statement, Krepo is open to a return to the EU LCS broadcast in the future, though the more likely path is that he will move to a behind-the-scenes role within the League of Legends eSports industry.
