WATCH: Ignar Produces A Godlike Grab As Blitzcrank Returns To The Meta

Playmaking support play is back on the table, to celebrate, Misfits’ Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun wasted no time showing off his Blitzcrank skills against Team Vitality.

To the delight of League of Legends eSports viewers everywhere – and the horror of professional AD carries – Blitzcrank is back in the competitive meta.

Locking in the robot for Game 2 of Misfits’ comfortable victory over Vitality, Ignar produced one of the most impressive support plays of the split so far.

Utilising the fear factor that goes hand in hand with Blitzcrank, Ignar pressured VIT AD carry Pierre “Steeelback” Medjaldi to play evasively, leaving the refuge of his mid lane turret.

With Lucian’s dash ability available and a considerable distance between himself and Ignar, Steeelback must have felt comfortable in his odds of survival.

Within an instance, those odds were turned on their head. Flashing forward to get himself in range, Ignar predicted Steeelback’s immediate dash and aimed his grab accordingly, dragging the ADC into the Misfits’ squad to meet his demise.

Victory now positions Misfits in joint first place alongside Fnatic in Group A, the shift in the competitive meta playing to the strengths of MSF.

Play making supports are in a great position to be played in the current competitive meta, with Thresh, Rakan and Blitzcrank all seeing play in the major regions.

The shift has seen shielders and mage damage dealers fall out of favour after a series of collective nerfs, with changes to Malzahar, Lulu, Karma and Zyra resulting in a drop in popularity… not that fans will mind seeing play making supports at the forefront once more.

Misfits are finding form at the ideal moment in their season, with a critical cross-group match up against H2K-Gaming set to distinguish which side is the genuine World Championship seed contender.

Against a H2K bot lane that has been frequently criticised for its underperformance, Ignar may once again relish the opportunity to unleash his impressive Blitzcrank.
