The prodigal son returns: a look at Keane’s United past

As is the case following any Premier League season, rumours are abound when it comes to the immediate future of Burnley’s Michael Keane. Some think he’ll head to Goodison Park and others believe a Manchester United return is on the cards, so let’s focus on the first time that the young English lad turned out for the Red Devils.

The date was September 26th 2012, and the game was a Capital One Cup tie against Newcastle United. As you can imagine, this riveting mid-week encounter didn’t exactly draw a whole heap of hype and you can see why with the eventual team sheet.

There’s a few top names mixed in there, but for the most part this collection of 18 names makes us question whether or not Sir Alex was genuinely a wizard. Honestly, we aren’t surprised Keano went out on loan every chance he got.

There’s a couple success stories littered in between all the dirt, but for the most part Michael Keane will be returning to Old Trafford with a much better selection of teammates to play alongside. We imagine the 24-year-old will feel an overwhelming sense of triumph upon pulling on the red strip once more, just two and a half years after walking out the door.
