Until his final breath, Harry Redknapp will be working on ways on ‘getting the band back together’ from Niko Kranjcar to Nwankwo Kanu, ‘Arry loves getting the old boys club together for one final swansong.

In a predictably predictable Harry Redknapp move, the former West Ham manager took over at relegation-threatened Birmingham City, under the promise of lots of money, if he was able to steer the Blues clear of League One.

Redknapp succeeded – it’s a shame his reputation gets in the way (and it’s fair to say it frustrates him) because it’s a great achievement from him – and then took the Birmingham City job full-time.

As soon as that happened, it was always only going to be a matter of time before free agent, John Terry, was going to be linked with a move to St Andrew’s – in a Football Manager style move, ‘Arry must’ve set the transfer list status to free agents, and then got carried away when he recognised a name.

It seems very fitting that Redknapp gave his exclusive quotes on Birmingham’s offer to JT on talkSPORT; gotta keep the old boys club together, after all:

“He’s a fantastic captain and great leader.

“We’ve made him a good offer and we have done the best we can. It’s up to John now, but we would love him at Birmingham.

“He could play for anybody still. He has got a couple of good years in him,” Redknapp.

“He played for me the other week in Michael Carrick’s testimonial. Fergie had the 2008 Champions League-winning team, I had an All-Star team and I had John at the back with Jamie Carragher – I would have them two together all day long. They were fantastic.

“I had a chat with him and said to him to come in – he’s doing his coaching badges – have a year or two and who knows what he wants to do in the future?”
